Molina de Segura hosts the first Charity Gala in favor of the Food Bank of Segura on Thursday, March 12 (25/02/2020)

Viva Suecia, El Sótano del Doctor and the monologuista Antonio Melgar will perform at the gala

The Department of Culture of the City of Molina de Segura collaborates in the organization of the 1st Charity Gala in favor of the Food Bank of Segura (BASMUR), which will take place on Thursday, March 12, at 8.30 pm, at the Villa de Theater Molina (in Avenida del Chorrico, n ° 10).

The ticket price is 18 euros (for sale at the box office and on the website of the Villa de Molina Theater.

The initiative was presented at a press conference on Tuesday, February 25, by the Councilor for Culture, Soledad Nortes Navarro, the General Director of BASMUR, José María Gavilán Ríos, the person in charge of the BASMUR protocol, Rubén Ferré Formoso, and the Organizer of the gala, Lola Pardo.

Presented by Manuel Rojas and María Pérez, the Benefit Gala will feature performances by Viva Suecia, El Sótano del Doctor and the monologuista Antonio Melgar.

Viva Suecia is an indie-rock group loaded with guitars and with Spanish-language lyrics that formed in Murcia in December 2013. The name of this band emerged from the interest of their drummer, Fernando Campillo, for the Swedish groups.

This is a band that has managed to make an important place in the Spanish music scene.

Thanks to their work and their desire they have managed to be on everyone's lips.

El Sótano del Doctor is a Murcian band that performs with a wide repertoire of Spanish pop / rock from the 80s, an unforgettable era of Spanish music.

The band has in its repertoire songs by Nacha Pop, Sabina, Los Piratas, The last in line, Los Ronaldos, etc., and many other groups that made a whole generation dance and today move the skeleton again and Remember the 80's.

Antonio Melgar is one of the most prominent comedians of the Murcia Comedy Club. In the last year he has toured the Region of Murcia with his monologues, which are born from the everyday and stand out for their freshness and improvisation.

BASMUR is a non-profit organization based on volunteering, and whose objective is the collection, storage and distribution of surplus foods to make them reach legally constituted charities, so that they distribute them to the most needy people, contributing from this way to avoid waste and protect the environment, avoiding the destruction of food.

The Food Bank of Segura emerged in 2009 as a Food Distribution Association of Murcia (ASORAM), with four volunteers and distributing 2,800 kg.

In 2012, he joined FESBAL as the Banco de Alimentos del Segura Association of Murcia (BASMUR), accessing the FEGA program and distributing a total of one million kilos of food.

In 2015, it moved to a new 1,500 m² warehouse and a 40 m³ cold room was installed, delivering 1,820,084 kg.

BASMUR is organized in four main areas:

PROVISIONING: food collection;

contact with companies;

organization (kilo and large collection operations);

and other activities (to get food).

STOCKS MANAGEMENT: food reception (controls);

food preservation;

and preparation for orders.

DISTRIBUTION: contact with charities;

and allocation of quantities and types of food.

ADMINISTRATION: economic management;

order coordination;

and document processing.

BASMUR receives food in three main ways: FEAD (European Fund for Assistance to Disadvantaged Persons), which through the Ministry of Agriculture is managed by FEGA (Spanish Agricultural Guarantee Fund), which is the one who buys food and delivers it to FESBAL (Spanish Federation of Food Banks), which in turn distributes them among all Food Banks in Spain;

those collected by the Bank itself in the Kilo and Gran Recogida operations;

and contributions of surplus food from the food sector and donations from companies.

These foods are controlled, classified and stored, according to their characteristics in the Bank's facilities.

And, subsequently, they are distributed among the charities attached to it, depending on the number of beneficiaries they have.
