The Department of Youth of the City of Molina de Segura organizes the exhibition THIS IS WHAT I AM ?, by the artist Profile Gitano, in the Exhibition Hall of the Young Artistic Creation Space (in Avenida de Madrid, n ° 68).
The opening ceremony will take place on Wednesday, November 6, at 7:00 p.m., and the exhibition can be visited from Monday to Friday, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., until November 22.
Profile Gitano took his pseudonym as a direct reference to García Lorca, when he began to take a more artistic orientation, the summer before starting the high school of plastic arts.
At that time he dedicated himself to taking photographs of the street, without having any idea.
In addition to multidisciplinary, it has always been considered self-taught.
When he was six or seven years old, with his sister's Nokia, he took pictures of the street graffiti.
At school they even took the books to draw and when he was more preteen, the money they gave him spent everything on paint cans.
After that stage he made the most canonical street and humanist portrait.
Then, in addition to experimenting with analog cameras, he also did it with concert photography and, finally, with video clips, reaching maximum saturation.
It was then that he finished his studies and began to produce his plastic work, taking up the painting in the street, but with a concept of "street art" from which he quickly tired.
After that breakup, he took favorite artists, contemporary muralists and, reconciling himself with his drawing style, he tried the murals on a larger scale.
It really went well, getting to paint in Romania, but the wear was increasing and once again it was saturated.
And until recently, coinciding with the proposal of this exhibition, it was when he returned to find a way that shaped both his current situation, and for having learned to take into account his past.
Small format and canvases, acrylics and some oil.
He has also returned to photography, with which he felt most, doing audiovisual experiments.
Somehow, the fruits of all these years, frustrations, radical changes of plans and feelings of failure (which literally resulted in a blur and new account) are reflected in this exhibition.
This is what I am (?), "Is what I am," rather what it has been made to be.
The purpose of his work, being at whatever stage, was none other than communicating what made him feel the environment in which he lived, the street.
From reflecting his day to day in unorthodox photography, or instead the more classy street portrait.
Also painting on walls to interact in some way directly with the pedestrian in his routine ... The question was to say something.
Over the years he has learned not to underestimate the past, to take it into account, channel it and come to the conclusion that it cannot stop being what it is.
But also do not forget that we are constantly changing and hence the question (?) This is what it is today, to communicate "doing things", doing what he knows, trying not to condition himself and being happy.

Consider this your first stage, somehow more pure.
