The Molina de Segura City Council launches the Molina Avanza en Igualdad project (16/10/2019)

The Molina Avanza en Igualdad project, promoted by the Department of Equality of the City of Molina de Segura, was presented at a press conference on Wednesday, October 16, by the Councilor for Gender Equality and Violence, Montserrat Montanos Villegas.

Molina Avanza en Igualdad emerges as a project of the 2018 Participatory Budgeting process and contemplates an awareness campaign and the Educando en Igualdad workshops.

"Equality is essential in our society, and it is the educational centers, in collaboration with the family, who have the responsibility of providing models and positive attitudes necessary for students to be aware of the problem of gender inequality and fight for eradicate it, "explains Montserrat Montanos.

The initiative has been designed by qualified personnel in the area of ​​Equality, in compliance with the IV Equal Opportunity Plan, which includes, in its Area 5, Educate for the elimination of sexist beliefs, attitudes and behaviors.

The Molinense City Council develops a wide range of educational activities.

Through them, objectives and content in the field of Equality are incorporated, always focused on the acquisition of knowledge and skills.

Through these activities, the City Council reaches broad sectors of the population, and, therefore, they are a particularly suitable field for awareness raising, dissemination, training and information on gender equity and equal opportunities.

WORKSHOPS EDUCATING IN EQUALITY

For the third consecutive year, the Department of Equality continues to focus on Equality Education in the educational centers of Molina de Segura, with the program of workshops Educating in Equality, aimed at students in the 6th grade of Primary Education.

It consists of 2 sessions taught by a technique in Equality: the first session will consist of the visualization of different audiovisual fragments to analyze the possible stereotypes, encouraging criticism as a way of analyzing reality;

and in the second session different magazines will be analyzed, with the purpose of creating a space for reflection based on values ​​of equality between women and men, respect for difference, cooperation and tolerance.

A total of 84 teaching hours will be taught.

The program will be held from October to December, in the 2019/20 school year at the following centers:

These workshops are taught by Charo Rosauro, a collegiate psychologist, specialist in training for different groups in the field of Gender Equality and Violence, and meet the following objectives:

Promote equality and prevent gender violence.

Contribute to the construction of an individual identity, not sexist and non-violent.

Implement coeducation in the center.

Foster a critical spirit among students about sexist stereotypes, roles and advertising.

Develop skills to identify sexist stereotypes and offer resources and skills to reject and avoid them.

Identify romantic myths as the basis of the first warning signs of gender violence.

Promote family-center collaboration in education for adolescent equality.

Sensitize the family to the need to work the process of equality and the use of non-sexist language and attitudes.

Gender socialization, gender roles and stereotypes.

Sexual division of labor.

Reconciliation of personal, work and family life.

The times, the works and the Life.

Horizontal and vertical labor segregation.

Non-sexist use of toys.

Non-sexist language.

Coeducation and education for equality.

Empowerment of individual and collective women.

New masculinities in favor of equality between women and men.

MOLINA AVANZA EQUAL ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

The Department of Equality has developed an advertising campaign under the motto Molina Avanza en Igualdad, with the objective of raising awareness and raising awareness among the population about the importance of equal opportunities between women and men in all areas, especially at work, in home, at school and in personal relationships.

The campaign is funded through the 2018 Participatory Budgets, measure 836 (Education to build equality between women and men).

The campaign aims to promote equal opportunities between women and men, through awareness raising and training in equality.

According to Montserrat Montanos, "we are in a society that, despite having made great strides in equality between women and men, continues to maintain significant inequalities. The transformation of this social reality and the achievement of gender equality constitute the purpose of the Department of Equality of the City of Molina de Segura. That between all and all we get a City of Equals in all its fields ".

The campaign is composed of a series of educational measures and specific instruments to face the different challenges that Molinense society still has in this area, through social awareness actions and workshops, with the motto Equals.

It consists of fixed graphic media (muppis and signage) and mobile media: local buses, assigned free of charge (Autocares de Molina and Autocares Torrealta) and two buses of the regular Molina-Murcia line (Line 22).

In addition, the Councilor has advanced that "we are working on a specific micro campaign by the end of the year, which consists of 2020 calendars to distribute to citizens, with messages and images to reflect on Equality and non-sexist toys."

Finally, Montanos has thanked "the citizens of Molina de Segura for this proposal in the area of ​​equality, and especially the companies Autocares de Molina and Autocares Torrealta, for their involvement and collaboration in this campaign."
