The City of Molina de Segura carries out actions in the municipality against the tiger mosquito after the September floods (01/10/2019)

As a result of the heavy rains in the entire Region of Murcia during the September DANA, and specifically in the municipality of Molina de Segura, water pools in residential areas, terraces and private gardens are abundant, ideal place for mosquito proliferation

Therefore, the Department of Sports and Health of the City of Molina de Segura recalls that, in the special case of the tiger mosquito, special attention should be paid to not having water accumulated in the dishes of pots, gutters or buckets, places of possible laying of mosquito eggs.

To this is also added the abandonment of the summer houses after the end of the summer period, which will remain closed until next year, where water may also have accumulated inside.

It is recommended that the citizens review their homes and dry out the water clusters that may have occurred to prevent the proliferation of mosquitoes, as well as warn of other major accumulations of water in public areas and how many incidents the citizen observes by calling 968 388 520, which has the Department of Sports and Health, in order to give notice to the pest control company hired by the Molinense City Council in order to carry out the relevant work.

In the case of homes, the Consistory also recommends tightly covering containers that cannot be emptied or turning upside down all those that are outdoors to avoid accumulation in the coming rains, as well as keeping the pools clean and properly chlorinated.

Personnel assigned to mosquito control works have been reinforced, especially in the areas most affected by the cold drop;

specifically, in the districts of La Ribera de Molina, La Torrealta and La Balsa del Lino and the Barrio de Santa Rita.

In addition, the continuous service continues in the rest of the municipality, where there is still standing water in certain areas, especially in public gardens.

Since last September 16, the City of Molina de Segura has been conducting controls and intensifying both larvicidal treatments, to prevent the hatching of mosquitoes, such as adulticides, in areas where abnormal levels of adult mosquitoes are detected.
