The City of Molina de Segura keeps activated the Territorial Civil Protection Plan due to heavy rains on the municipality and suspends all activities planned for today Friday September 13 (13/09/2019)

The City of Molina de Segura keeps activated the Territorial Civil Protection Plan (Municipal Emergency Plan) due to heavy rainfall on the municipality, as reported by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, who has chaired, today Friday the 13th September, a new meeting of the CECOPAL, with the assistance of councilors of the government team, municipal technicians and the services company SERCOMOSA, Local Police, and Civil Protection.

The first mayor has called for calm and caution on behalf of all citizens, since the emergency level 2 is still activated in the Region of Murcia.

Among the decisions adopted is the SUSPENSION of all the festive, sporting and cultural municipal activities scheduled for Friday, September 13 in Molina de Segura.

In addition, some data on the consequences suffered in the municipality due to heavy rains have been released at the meeting:

About 500 people evicted, approximately, in an orchard area, as in the Huerta de Arriba (and extension of Cañada Morcillo), Huerta de Abajo, Barrio de Santa Rita-Balsa del Lino, La Ermita area, La Torrealta orchard, and La Ribera orchard to Los Felices;

all of them flooded in the last hours by water.

Most of these people voluntarily left their homes after the pre-warning notice issued by the authorities, and those who did not, had to be rescued.

Emergency services have rescued about 80 people this past night and this morning.

Among the evacuated people, up to 55 were lodged in the CIFEA of Molina de Segura, since late yesterday.

At the moment, 40 people remain in the accommodation center, attended by CIFEA staff, Spanish Red Cross volunteers and social workers from the Department of Social Welfare of the Molinense town hall.

The rest has been relocated to friends or family.

A first review of the damages caused by the rainstorm has been carried out.

Until all flooded public buildings and facilities are located, and the water is drained, the damages cannot be fully assessed and their repair can be carried out, but it is already known that there are significant damages on roads and paths , as well as in the supply and sanitation networks in multiple points of the municipality of Molina de Segura.

From the Molinense consistory, notices were issued last Wednesday to the population to remove their vehicles from floodways and garages, such as Avenida del Chorrico, San Juan Street, Jesuit Hernández Pérez Street, Station Street, and garden areas.

This message was re-issued yesterday Thursday, in addition to a new notice of evacuation recommendation to the population living in flood zones in the garden area:
