The City of Molina de Segura, through the Department of Mobility, has organized a program of activities to celebrate the European Mobility Week, which will take place from September 16 to 22.
The initiative was presented at a press conference on Wednesday, September 11, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, and the Mobility Councilor, Eliseo García Cantó.
European Mobility Week (SEM) is a European initiative that encourages cities to introduce and promote sustainable transport measures, and invite citizens to try different alternatives to cars.
The SEM has been held since 2002, and always between September 16 and 22, with Spain leading the way in participation.
Molina de Segura, among others, is one of the municipalities that has been participating in this initiative for years.
The theme chosen for this year's campaign is WALKING AND SAFE PEDALING, and focuses on the benefits of these two forms of displacement for our health, the environment and our economy.
And for this, from the Department of Mobility of the City of Molina de Segura have prepared different activities "in which, we hope, citizens are encouraged to participate," says Eliseo García.
Among them, it stands out: Put yourself in my place, an activity focused on schoolchildren who will live first hand the experience of reduced mobility;
the Senderista Route;
the Bicycle Workshop;
or the Cultural Gymkana, among others, an activity that will make you walk through different parts of the municipality following some clues to solve a mystery.
All this without forgetting the most important event, which is the DAY WITHOUT MY CAR, and which will take place simultaneously at European level on Sunday, September 22.
That day, with Enjoy the street, the road will be used differently, where the pedestrian can enjoy a space usually reserved for motor vehicles, and where he can participate in numerous games and sports competitions.
The place chosen this year will be Avenida de Madrid, on the stretch between Sierra Espuña Street and the intersection with Avenida de Granada.
"We want to be close to the citizens and be able to answer the questions that may arise, for which we will enable an Information Point in Plaza de España, between September 18 and 21," explained the Mobility Councilor.
ACTIVITY PROGRAM
Monday, September 16
- From 6.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m.: Special Service Free Transport Molina de Segura Patron Saint Festivities.
On the occasion of the celebration of the Patron Saint Festivities, free urban and interurban transport is offered so that the residents of Molina de Segura can enjoy the traditional Pilgrimage of the Patroness the Virgin of Consolation to her Hermitage.
Descent to Plaza de la Constitución: From 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m., and with the usual city bus route, to Plaza de la Constitución.
Ascent from the Hermitage: From 9.30pm to 10.30pm, pick up at the Hermitage and usual city bus tour.
Tuesday, September 17
- From 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., in Plaza de España
PUT YOURSELF IN MY PLACE.
Accessibility circuit for reduced mobility.
Put yourself in my place intends to raise awareness among the youngest of the needs that people with reduced mobility meet, for which there will be a circuit and some games with which they will learn to put themselves in their skin.
Wednesday, September 18
- From 11.00 to 13.00 and from 18.00 to 20.00, in Plaza de España, INFORMATION POINT of the European Mobility Week
During the days 18, 19, 20 and 21 an information point of the Department of Mobility will be installed to encourage and advise on the use of public transport.
- 10.00 am, departing from Plaza de España, IV SEM Sender Route
For the fourth consecutive year, the hiking route will be celebrated, an activity that encourages and gives importance to the usual displacements on foot, as good for health as for the social and economic environment.
Thursday, September 19
- From 11.00 to 13.00 and from 18.00 to 20.00, in Plaza de España, INFORMATION POINT of the European Mobility Week
During the days 18, 19, 20 and 21 an information point of the Department of Mobility will be installed to encourage and advise on the use of public transport.

In addition to the use of public transport, from the Mobility Department wants to show other alternatives to move.
On this occasion, with an exhibition of non-polluting electric vehicles.
The planet is changing and wants to show the latest models that exist in the market: electric bicycles, quads, all-terrain scooters and much more.

Sunday, September 22, DAY WITHOUT MY CAR
This day there will be a different use of the road, where the pedestrian can enjoy a space usually reserved for motor vehicles.
In this space and for a few hours, citizens can enjoy activities related to mobility in the municipality.
For the celebration of the Day without my car, a section of Madrid Avenue will be reserved, from Sierra Espuña Street to the intersection with Avenida de Granada (from 4 pm to 9 pm).

Solve the murder of Professor Pencroff following the clues that you will find in the municipality.
Become a detective in a very funny way while you walk and know enigmatic places in your town.
- From 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Avenida Madrid, section from Sierra Espuña Street to the intersection with Avenida de Granada, Enjoy the street
To close the SEM, it will be done in a big way.
Goals, baskets and net will be installed for football-handball, handball, basketball, badminton, volleyball…
