The Department of the Environment organizes a guided tour to know and catalog the birds, especially birds of prey, that visit and inhabit the Vicente Blanes Park, and also hold a workshop on these birds on the occasion of the World Migratory Bird Day.

The Nature Information Center Alto del Rellano Vicente Blanes Ecological Park of Molina de Segura, managed by the Department of Environment of the Molinense City Council, opens its doors on Sunday, May 12, from 10:00 to 14:00.

In addition to providing information on the environmental, landscape, cultural and tourist resources of the environment, the center commemorates the World Migratory Bird Day (May 11), a day dedicated to environmental awareness for the conservation of birds, which It was created in 2017 and is celebrated on two separate dates, the second Saturdays of the months of May and October.

Since 2018, the World Migratory Bird Day has brought together two of the world's largest campaigns to raise awareness and education about birds, which aims to help raise awareness about the plight of the birds. They find migratory birds around the world and highlight the urgent need for their conservation.

That is why the Nature Information Center offers a tour of the space to discover the birds it houses and to end the morning there will be a workshop to learn the nocturnal and diurnal raptors of the area.

The center opens its doors on the second and fourth Sunday of each month.

At 10.30 am, there will be a route on the avifauna of the Vicente Blanes Ecological Park, where the species of birds that house the space, its curiosities and its habits will be known.

And, at 12.30, there will be a workshop of day and night raptors of Vicente Blanes Ecological Park, where attendees will know the variety of species of these two groups of birds, and the characteristics they have, making them so special .

Participation is free and it is not necessary to make prior registration, except for groups of more than 10 people.

Why a route and a workshop on birds?

The role of birds in our ecosystems is of vital importance, as they act as dispersal agents, transporting a great variety of flora and spreading the seeds throughout the fertile land.

In addition, birds feed on insects, so they are especially useful if we want to avoid a plague or not bother insects (flies and mosquitoes).

However, today there are many specimens that disappear every day due to human mismanagement.

With urban expansion and agricultural intensification there is a risk of loss of fauna diversity, especially of birds.

In Molina de Segura, this fact is tried to compensate with the planting of arboreal species for their nesting and shrubs for their food.

It also contributes to its protection the realization of activities that awaken consciences and bring the citizens to the colorful world of birds.

In Spain you can see more than 500 species of birds.
