Molina de Segura hosts the First National Congress on Epilepsy on Saturday May 18 (08/05/2019)

The First National Congress on Epilepsy, promoted by the Association D'Genes, in collaboration with the Department of Public Health of the City of Molina de Segura, the Spanish Federation of Epilepsy (FEDE), the Hospital de Molina, and the Autonomous Community of Region of Murcia, in commemoration of the International Day of Epilepsy, is celebrated on Saturday May 18, from 09.00 to 20.30, in the Plenary Hall of the Molinense City Council.

The event was presented at a press conference today, May 8, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of the D'Genes Association, Juan Carrión Tudela, and the congress coordinator, Encarnación Bañón Hernández.

The objective of this training action is the multidisciplinary approach of epilepsy and is intended for patients, family members, professionals, students and people interested in rare diseases and / or epilepsy.

Participation for D'Genes members and children will be free, while non-members of the entity will have to pay 5 euros.

The program of the congress contemplates the following activities:

09.00 09.30 h .: accreditations.

09.30 10.30: inaugural table, with the participation of the Mayor of Molina de Segura, the President of FEDE, the President of the D'Genes Association, and the Managing Director of Hospital de Molina.

10.30 11.00 h .: testimonies, children and adults.

11.00 noon: presentation Cell therapy for children's epilepsies and other lines of research, by Dr. Luis Miguel Aras.

12.00 12.30 h .: rest.

12.30 13.30 h .: Presentation Protocol of action in education in emergency situations of the Region of Murcia.

13.30 15.30 h .: food and meetings with speakers.

15.30 5.30 pm: round table Integral approach to epilepsy: what can we improve?

Moderator: Rosario Domingo.

Participants: Carlos Casas, former Head of the Neuropediatric Section of the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca and professor of neuropediatrics, who will talk about basic concepts and semiology in epilepsy;

Helena Alarcón, from the Neuropediatric Section of the Virgen de la Arrixaca University Clinical Hospital, who will discuss the Update and developments in the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy;

Irene Villegas, of the Neurology Service, Epilepsy Unit, of the Santa Lucía Hospital of Cartagena;

and Salvador Ibáñez Mico, who will talk about epilepsy centered on the patient.

17.30 6.00 pm: rest.

6.00 pm 7.30 pm: The role of associations in the care of epilepsy.

Associative work in the Region of Murcia, by D'Genes Epilepsia;

Challenges of the Spanish Association of Affected by Serious Epilepsy Granada;

The work of the Spanish Federation of Epilepsy;

and Programs of the Epilepsy Association of the Valencian Community.
