The act of signing the 2019 agreement of collaboration between the City of Molina de Segura and the Association of Relatives of People with Alzheimer's and Other Dementias (AFAD Molina) for the care of these patients through the project Activate the mind has taken place today Monday May 6, in the municipality of Molinense.
The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of AFAD, Trinidad Gómez García, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, attended.
The agreement aims at an economic collaboration between the City, which makes a contribution of 22,000 euros, and AFAD, which develops actions in the sector of people with Alzheimer's and other dementias in the municipality, in order to:
Provide support to families to face the impact of having a relative with Alzheimer's disease and offer the resource of family respite to caregivers.
Maintain and stimulate the mental abilities of all users of the association, as well as identity, creativity and communication.
Support the operation of the Day Center.
Strengthen interpersonal relationships, tolerance and respect through the management of social skills that improve autonomy in the activities of daily life.
AFAD, whose headquarters are located in the Las Balsas Center, is an organization that has been working for more than 15 years with people diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and their families, with actions to respond to the needs arising from this disease, seeking cognitive, physical, social, emotional and family respite stimulation.
It serves a total of 60 people, who attend the services, as well as family members.
A few weeks ago, he received the IX Dr. Francisco Guirado Prize, awarded by the Molinense City Council.
Through the project Let's activate the mind, it is intended to maintain and stimulate the mental capacities of the patient and to enhance the skills that improve the autonomy in the development of the activities of daily life.
This is done with the following actions:
Day Center, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., where services and activities are provided:
Workshops of Cognitive Therapies, Plastic, Painting, Crochet, Clay, Stimulation and Music Therapy, among others, from 09.30 to 13.30 hours.
Family Care Service for information and advice on all the problems related to Alzheimer's and its consequences.
Basic care of Nursing.
Health care, personal hygiene, hydration, food, escort to the bathroom, etc.
Canteen and transportation.
AFAD has the following human resources for the provision of its activities: 1 Pedagogue, 3 Monitors / Educators for workshops, 1 Social Worker, 2 Nursing Assistants, 1 Graduate in Nursing, and 1 Administrative.
In addition, the cession of use for economic benefit to the entity of 10 parking spaces in the parking La Molinera municipal property is maintained.
The City Council has also collaborated with the entity with the assignment of a Ford Transit mixed vehicle for support in the transport service carried out by the association and the agreement is maintained in the agreement of the entity to take into account the Social and Labor Integration Exchange of the City Council Molina de Segura, designed to promote the integration into the labor market of people in unemployment in the municipality.
