The Interuniversity Open Chair for Participation and Innovation kicks off in Molina de Segura on Tuesday, April 30, with an inaugural lecture by Chilean economist Daniel Kaufmann (26/04/2019)

The program of activities of the Interuniversity Open Chair for Participation and Innovation, promoted by the Molina de Segura City Council, the University of Murcia, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and the Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia (CTRM), begins on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:00 pm, at the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium, at the MUDEM, with the inaugural conference Transparency and Quality in Governance: Priority Objectives, given by the President and Executive Director of the Institute of Governance of the Natural Resources, the Chilean economist Daniel Kaufmann.

The program was presented at a press conference today, Friday, April 26, by the Mayor, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of the Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia, José Molina Molina, and the Professor of Administrative Law of the Faculty of Law of the University of Murcia and director of the Open Chair, Santiago Álvarez Carreño.

For the inaugural event of the Open Chair, one of the greatest international experts in the analysis and measurement of institutional quality has been invited to take part in these diverse meetings and in different places such as Madrid, the Region of Murcia or Valencia.

The great Chilean economist Daniel Kaufmann has worked for many years at the World Bank Institute (WB), where he developed with his collaborators an ingenious way to measure the quality of government in the world, the famous global governance indicators (WGI).

Currently, and after passing through the Brookings Institution (the world's leading think tank according to all rankings), he is the President and CEO of the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI), an international non-profit organization that collaborates with resource-producing countries. natural gas, oil or minerals with the intention of improving governance in the management of natural resources and avoid the corruption that is usually associated with the exploitation of these.

In the program that Kaufmann will carry out highlights the clear role that the Region of Murcia will have, which will be for three days, which will carry out various events, among which the public conference that will pronounce before the Rector of the UMU on Thursday, May 2 or the inauguration of the Open Chair for Innovation and Participation on April 30 in Molina de Segura.

This last initiative has been promoted by the CTRM and has led to the creation of a space for the collaboration of entities such as the UMU, the UPCT, the Molina de Segura City Council and the CTRM itself.

In turn, the conference of day 2 will bring together researchers from the universities of the Region of Murcia, students, as well as various public authorities and important businessmen.

Before these acts in the Region, Kaufmann will have several important meetings in Madrid.

On the 29th he will meet with the influential Círculo de Empresarios and with economic journalists from the main Spanish newspapers, he will have a lunch with the rector team of the Rey Juan Carlos University and will hold a meeting with researchers of the TRUST-Culture network of excellence Legality and of the ACCES project, as well as with the presidents of the CTBG and the CTRM.

Finally, on Friday, May 3 will give a conference at the Valencian Institute of Economic Research.
