The Environmental Volunteering Program Volunteers Naturally !, promoted by the Department of Environment of the City of Molina de Segura, offers a path improvement activity and a bird ringing workshop, which will take place on Saturday, April 27, at 10.00 am, in the wetland of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar Salar Gordo.

Volunteers who participate in this activity will have the opportunity to collaborate in the improvement of the trails of a wetland of great importance such as Las Lagunas de Campotéjar Salar Gordo, which has numerous figures of protection at an international level, such as the cataloging of Wetland of International Importance (Ramsar site) and declaration as Site of Community Importance (SCI), as well as Special Protection Area for Birds (ZEPA) within the Natura 2000 Network, for having, among others, such species such as the White-capped Malvasia (Oxyura leucocephala).

In this activity, a brief training will be imparted about the natural values ​​and biodiversity that this natural space shelters, in order to subsequently perform maintenance, improvement and conditioning of trails.

Finally, participants can learn from the hand of one of the members of the ringing group of the Association of Southeast Naturalists (ANSE) one of the actions carried out to monitor the biodiversity of the wetland, such as the ringing of small passerine birds.

According to the Councilor for the Environment, Juan Alcaide Quirós, "with this activity of the Environmental Volunteering Program, the citizens of Molina de Segura can contribute to the protection and conservation of one of the most important ecosystems of Molina de Segura, As it is the wetland of Las Lagunas de Campotéjar Salar Gordo, I encourage all the population to participate in the knowledge, value and conservation of our natural environment, collaborating every month in the activities of the Environmental Volunteering Program of Molina de Segura. And, especially, I want to show my gratitude to all the volunteers for their involvement and contribution to the diffusion of the environmental values ​​of our municipality ".

The activities of this program are held on the last Saturday of each month and are aimed at all those over 14 years old interested in the conservation of natural areas and the improvement of the municipality.
