The Cabildo Superior de Cofradías and the City Council of Molina de Segura present the HOLY WEEK 2019 (15/03/2019)

The event takes place today, Friday, March 15, at 8:00 pm, at the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium of the MUDEM, with the performance of the Municipal Band of Music and the opening of the exhibition of photographs Semana Santa with the five senses, promoted by the Superior Town Council of Cofradías de Molina de Segura

The official presentation of Holy Week 2019 by Molina de Segura and the inauguration of the exhibition of photographs Semana Santa with the five senses, promoted by the Cabildo Superior de Cofradías de Molina de Segura, takes place on Friday, March 15, at at 8:00 pm, at the Virginia Martínez Fernández Auditorium, at the MUDEM, an act that will be closed with a concert by the Municipal Band of Molina de Segura.

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of the Town Council of the Town Hall, Antonio Ruiz Serrano, the Councilman of Local Holidays, Andrés Martínez Cervantes, the Councilor of the Cabildo Superior de Cofradías and Parish Priest of the Church of Ntra Mrs. de la Asunción, José León León, and the presidents of the four brotherhoods of the municipality: Juan López Riquelme, of the Illustrious Brotherhood of the Holy Christ of Sorrows;

Fuensanta Carrascosa García, of the Brotherhood of Santo Entierro;

Víctor Manuel Palazón Cano, of the Illustrious, Venerable and Antiquísima Archconfraternity of Mary Most Holy of the Rosary and of the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus Christ;

and Antonio Ruiz García, of the Confraternity of the Triumphal Entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem

The official poster of this year is for the first time a montage, made with two photographs of Chon López, of the Christ of Sorrows, which procession on the night of Holy Thursday.

The cover of the cabildo magazine is illustrated with a snapshot of Raymond of the Kings, which shows the Holy Cross with Mary Magdalene, who parades with the Brotherhood of the Holy Burial on the night of Good Friday.

The Proclamation of Holy Week 2019 will be pronounced on Saturday, April 6, by Molinense Joaquin Abellán García, Doctor in Political Science, Bachelor of Arts and Philosophy, Political Science and Law, Professor of Political Science and Director of the Department of Political Science III in the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology of the Complutense University of Madrid.

After reading the Proclamation, the Nazarene of the Year will be named, an annual recognition that gives value to the Molinian brothers and that on this occasion has fallen to the brother of the Triumphal Entrance of Jesus in Jerusalem, Antonio Tello Martinez.

The exhibition Holy Week with the five senses, which can be seen in the hall of access to the Auditorium Virginia Martínez Fernández, seeks that the visitor leave his mind blank and activate all his senses before a selection of photographs of the images that procession every spring in Molina de Segura, images that will be illuminated to the rhythm of a narration.

The sample may be visited until April 21, Resurrection Sunday, at the time the MUDEM remains open.

The Cabildo Superior de Cofradías plans to offer schools the possibility of seeing the show in the morning.

Holy Week Molinense puts on the streets of the municipality a total of 23 steps, including the five carried by children in their procession and, according to the Cabildo, more than 2,500 members participate in it.

The first parade that will take to the streets of Molina de Segura, from the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, will be on the afternoon of Sunday, April 7, the Procession of Children.

Saturday, April 6

At 7:00 p.m., from the Plaza de España to the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Parade of Pastoral Brotherhoods and Cabildo Superior.

At 7.30 pm, in the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, after Mass, Proclamation of Holy Week, by Joaquín Abellán García.

After reading the proclamation, in the Church itself, the title of Nazareno del Año 2019 will be delivered, which this year has fallen to Antonio Tello Martínez.

Sunday, April 7

At 6:00 pm, Procession of Children.

Itinerary: Plaza de la Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, Ramón y Cajal, Plaza de la Constitución, Culture, Mayor, Santa Teresa, Paseo Rosales, Plaza Región Murciana, Culture, Pensioner, Church Square Ntra. Sra. De la Assumption.

Arrival at approximately 9:00 p.m.

Friday April 12.

Friday of pain

At 22.00 hours, Procession of the Nazarene (Via Crucis by Barrio del Castillo).

Itinerary: Plaza Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, Pensioner, Benavente, Cristo Rey Square, San Vicente Ferrer, Vázquez de Mella, Cid Campeador, Juan Sandoval, Plaza Church of Ntra. Sra. De la Asunción.

Itinerary: Church Square, Javier Azagra, Alfredo Nobel to Pharmacy, Precinct and solar (in front of Pharmacy), Old Calvary and adjacent streets, Maestro Rodrigo, Placeta de José Fernández, Juan de la Cierva, Antonio Valera, García Lorca.

Crucifixion precinct: plots in front of the School Ntra. Sra. De los Remedios with García Lorca, continuation by García Lorca and Isaac Albéniz.

Thursday, April 18.

Holy Thursday.

At 9.00 pm, solemn Procession of Silence, of the Illustrious Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of Sorrows.
