The Town Council of Molina de Segura and the Association of Friends of the Souk of Guadalabiad sign an agreement of support, promotion and development of the local artisan sector (17/12/2018)

The act of signature of the nominative grant agreement of the Molina de Segura City Council to the Association of Friends of the Souk of Guadalabiad de Molina de Segura took place today, Monday, December 17, in the municipality of Molinense.

The signature was attended by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of the Association of Friends of the Souk of the Guadalabiad of Molina de Segura, Faustina Concepción López, and the Councilman of Crafts, Andrés Martínez Cervantes.

This agreement contemplates the concession of a municipal subsidy amounting to 1,000 euros to collaborate with the promotion and revitalization of the artisanal sector, with the aim of contributing to its adaptation to the current economic competitiveness, as well as to the conservation of uses and customs of yesteryear supported by the foundations of fair and sustainable trade, seeking, in addition, the benefit of all the citizens in general and in particular to the new generations by transmitting the value of what was done with their hands as personal development and contribution to the environment.

The Association of Friends of the Souk of Guadalabiad, recently born in Molina de Segura, has maintained since its inception a close collaboration with the City Council, through its participation in different activities in markets, fairs, workshops and art exhibitions and other activities extraordinary, which has led from the consistory support and support to local artisans and the rest of the region.

The purpose of the association is to recognize and collect trades that have traditionally been practiced for years in the Region, promoting creativity from different traditional and modern materials, as well as making known the products that the people of the Region make with their hands and aim to achieve it by promoting exhibitions, demonstrations, fairs, etc., in order to ensure fair and sustainable trade, in addition to having the management capacity and initiative to coordinate different promotion actions that they want to promote.

The Department of Crafts of the City of Molina de Segura will continue working together with the Association of Friends of the Souk of Guadalabiad, with the aim of continuing to promote the promotion and reactivation of crafts, while dynamising the urban centers, to attract a large influx of visitors from the vicinity so that the work of artisans is disseminated and valued, and continue to endure over time, without losing its essence but adapting to new ways of selling, adopting the necessary innovations, opening up to new experiences and leaning, between others, in new technologies (commercial promotion, use of social networks to show their offer, linking the population through it, social networks, websites and catalogs in the network and a long etc.).

Under this agreement, the Association will collaborate with the City Council in supporting the dissemination of the activities proposed by him, with advice and support in the organization thereof, with the coordination for its development and implementation, collaborating also with other municipal areas such as Education, Social Welfare, Environment, Culture, Public Roads, etc.

And it also undertakes to carry out actions aimed at recognizing and collecting trades that have traditionally been practiced for years in the Region, encouraging creativity from different materials, both traditional and modern, as well as publicizing the products that the artisans of the Region carry out with their hands, promoting exhibitions, demonstrations, fairs, etc., guaranteeing a fair and sustainable trade, besides having the management capacity and initiative to coordinate different promotion actions that they want to promote.

According to the Councilman of Crafts, Andrés Martínez, "craftsmanship has a very important social function, being a totally cultural activity that defines our social context, customs, landscape and history, and constitutes an essential element in the configuration of cities, villages and neighborhoods, as the cultural base driving society and an important economic reference, since it is a key factor in the definition of societies ".
