The Association of Relatives of People with Alzheimer's Disease and other Dementias, AFAD Molina, opens new headquarters at the Las Balsas Center (14/12/2018)

The opening ceremony of the new headquarters of the Association of Relatives of Patients with Alzheimer's and Other Dementias of Molina de Segura (AFAD Molina) takes place TODAY Friday, December 14, at 8:00 pm, at the Las Balsas Center (at Cartagena Street , next to Plaza de los Grifos).

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of AFAD, Trinidad Gómez García, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, attend.

AFAD celebrates 15 years of life, and does so by opening a new headquarters in the Las Balsas Center.

The Mayor stressed that the association "has been working for many years with Alzheimer's patients and other dementias and deserved that the City Council strengthened its work, giving a more spacious and comfortable, especially for the extraordinary work done by the team of professionals who attends sick people annually. "

AFAD that develops activities in the sector of people with Alzheimer's and other dementias in the municipality, in order to:

Provide support to families to face the impact of having a relative with Alzheimer's disease and offer the resource of "family respite" to caregivers.

Maintain and stimulate the mental abilities of all users of the association, as well as identity, creativity and communication.

Support the operation of the Day Center.

Enhance interpersonal relationships, tolerance and respect through the management of social skills that improve autonomy in daily life activities.

The association is an entity that works with people diagnosed with Alzheimer's and other dementias, and their families, with actions to respond to the needs arising from this disease, seeking cognitive, physical, social, emotional and family respite.

Carry out the following actions:

Day Center, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., where services and activities are provided:

Workshops of Cognitive Therapies, Plastic, Painting, Crochet, Clay, Stimulation and Music Therapy, among others, from 09.30 to 13.30 hours.

Family Care Service for information and advice on all the problems related to Alzheimer's and its consequences.

Nursing basic care.

Health care, personal hygiene, hydration, food, accompanying the bathroom ...

Canteen and transportation.

AFAD has 11 professionals for the development of its activity: Pedagogue, Monitors / Educators for workshops, Social Worker, Nursing Assistants, Graduate in Nursing, and Administrative.

It currently has 40 members and 28 users, of which 12 make use of the Day Center. Throughout its 15 years of life, the association has served 180 people.
