The Molina de Segura City Council and the University of Murcia sign an agreement to develop the Health Program 5-10, Healthy Children, Happy Adults (08/11/2018)

The act of signing the collaboration agreement between the City of Molina de Segura and the University of Murcia for the development of the Health Program 5-10: Healthy Children, Happy Adults took place today, Thursday, November 8, at the Rector's Office of the University of Murcia (Convalescence Building).

The Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the Grand Rector of the University of Murcia, José Luján Alcaraz, and the Councilor for Public Health, Esther Sánchez Rodríguez, attended.

The Health Program 5-10: Healthy Children, Happy Adults has been held since 2013 with excellent results.

This is a program conducted by a research team of professionals from the Hospital Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca, Hospital de Molina, FFIS Foundation, University of Murcia and Molina de Segura City Council, aimed at children of the municipality of Molina de Segura. 5 to 10 years who are obese and overweight.

In 2014 he received the Sports Merit Award of the Region of Murcia in the R + D + i category.

Within this program a sports intervention is carried out on children with obesity and overweight, designed and developed by Dr. Pilar Sainz de Baranda Andújar and collaborators of the Department of Physical Activity and Sports of the University of Murcia.

As stated in this agreement, the Faculty of Sports Sciences of the University of Murcia has designed and is developing in the municipality of Molina de Segura a physical exercise intervention framed in the Health Program 5-10, with the participation of 4 monitors and the specific sports equipment necessary for its development.

This activity takes place during the school year with a duration of 3 hours per week.

For its part, the Molinense City Council is committed to an economic contribution of 6,800 euros for the development of the aforementioned activity in 2018.
