The activities of the III Major May Days of Molina de Segura take place during the months of October and November (18/10/2018)

The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura, in collaboration with the Association for Active and Healthy Aging of the town, has organized the III Majority Days, which will take place during the months of October and November 2018, with the objective to make visible to the group of elderly people.

The program was presented at a press conference on Thursday, October 18, by the Mayor of Molina de Segura, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, and the municipal technician responsible for the Senior Unit, Manuela Zamora Bathrooms.

The activities are aimed at older people from the Molinense municipality, a group integrated in Molina de Segura by some 20,796 people over 55 years of age, of the total municipal population, where there are currently 72,124 people, which corresponds in demographic percentage to 30% of the total population.

With the general objective of improving the quality of life of the elderly through activities that promote active aging, the program has other specific objectives: to promote the participation and integration of the elderly in the life of the community;

foster the interpersonal relationships of the elderly in their own environment;

promote socio-cultural, occupational, artistic and recreational activities to prevent situations of physical and / or cognitive deterioration;

strengthen the maintenance of functional capacities, acting in the preventive field;

and favor the enjoyment of life through the development of skills.

"With these third days, we intend to continue with a project that we started three years ago, and that is becoming more and more important." The project consists mainly of promoting activities of a cultural and playful nature in the elderly, understanding the benefits of these activities , and all within the Seniors Unit Program ", explains the Councilor for Social Welfare, adding that," for this, we grouped a series of activities for the elderly of the municipality, celebrating during a conference, which this year range from October 25 until November 14, there is a group of older people who want to be visible by showing and showing the rest of the citizens that they are full-fledged people. "

The content of the III Majority Days is detailed below:

Thursday October 25: acoustic concert of the singer CHARO REINA, at the Municipal Auditorium of the Parque de la Compañía, at 6:00 p.m.

Saturday November 3: Festival of the Elderly, special day of celebration older people and traditions, day of meeting and coexistence among the elderly, in a playful space that.

Also, connect the elderly with their experiences and traditions, in the Plaza de España, starting at 10.00 am, where the elderly will make an exhibition of the activities they have been doing throughout the year in the centers.

In addition, invited groups and associations will participate, all in collaboration this year with the Department of Tourism and Crafts.

Wednesday, November 7: Route through one of the green roads of Molina de Segura, to El Llano de Molina, and then lunch at the Elderly Center of El Llano, at 10.00.

Friday, November 9: Trip to Orihuela.

Wednesday November 14: Closing of the III Majority Days, at the Villa de Molina Theater, at 5:00 pm, with the act of Tribute to the Seniors who have celebrated 100 years during 2018. Performance of the monologist Larry Mil Voces, and the Miguel Illán Choir, from the Major Center of the IMAS of Molina de Segura.

In all these activities, the participation of more than 3,000 people is expected.

The Department of Social Welfare will provide buses, which will pick up the elderly by the different districts and developments (La Torrealta, La Ribera, El Llano, Los Valientes, El Fenazar, El Rellano, Los Conejos, La Alcayna and Altorreal), returning them later to the collection point, "with the objective that the elderly, reside in the place that they reside in the municipality, can access the activities, in the same way as the elderly people who inhabit the population nucleus", says Ángel Navarro.
