The Creative and Healthy Therapies project to activate the mind, promoted by the Association of Relatives of People with Alzheimer's Disease or other Dementias of Molina de Segura (AFAD Molina), funded by Fundación Bancaria la Caixa, was presented at a press conference on Monday. October 1, at the Molinense City Hall.
The press conference was offered by the Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the President of AFAD, Trinidad Gómez García, the Business Area Director of Murcia Metropolitan Banking Foundation la Caixa, María Rosa Ríos Salmerón, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García.
The project has been approved by la Caixa within the call for Promoting personal autonomy and attention to aging, disability and illness 2018 in favor of the association AFAD Molina.
The person in charge of the project is the pedagogue of the association, Consuelo Yagües Fernández.
Creative and healthy therapies to activate the mind is set in motion in order to develop various stimulation workshops aimed at keeping the minds of those people suffering from any process of dementia active.
The workshops are the following: Cognitive Therapies, Painting, Clay, Creative Decoration and Crochet.
The project also includes a Service of Information and Advice to families, which is attended by the Pedagogue of the association.
The workshop schedule is as follows: from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and three evenings a week, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday in the afternoon is Painting, on Tuesdays Clay and Wednesdays Crochet.
The project aims to improve the quality of life of people suffering from dementia, stimulating their creativity and mental abilities.
It takes place at the headquarters of AFAD Molina, at the Las Balsas Social Center, on Cartagena Street, next to Plaza de los Grifos.
The duration of the project is from September 2018 to June 2019, and the amount granted is 23,490 euros.
Currently, the number of recipients who are already benefiting daily from the project are 30 people suffering from some type of dementia.
