Molina de Segura City Council will invest 126,935.56 euros in the improvement of pedestrian accessibility to the ASTRADE Center from Avenida del Chorrico (27/09/2018)

The presentation of the pedestrian access execution project to the ASTRADE Center from the Chorrico Avenue, promoted by the Molina de Segura Town Hall, took place today, Thursday, September 27, at the ASTRADE headquarters (at Avenida del Chorrico, / n).

The Mayor of the town, Esther Clavero Mira, the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, and the Councilor for Public Roads, Fuensanta Martínez Jiménez, have presented the initiative to the center's management and to the families of ASTRADE users. .

The project, budgeted at 126,935.56 euros, and an execution period of 3 months, contemplates the following actions:

1. Execution of a signalized pedestrian crossing between the two margins of the Chorrico Avenue, with notice from the urban center of Molina de Segura.

This crossing is projected at the request of pedestrians by means of the provision of a push button and will have a time deduction for the crossing of pedestrians and an acoustic bell for the blind.

A pedestrian crossing is also planned through a pedestrian crossing signposted at the entrance to the ASTRADE Center itself.

2. Execution of a pedestrian walkway two meters wide on the margin of the Chorrico Avenue adjoining the ASTRADE Center, which runs from the signalized pedestrian crossing and the entrance to the Center itself bordering the existing roundabout at the entrance.

For the execution of this sidewalk, reinforced concrete walls are projected parallel to the Avenida del Chorrico, in which there will be a gravel embankment and an artificial gravel base, on which a colored asphalt pavement will be laid, with a slight transversal slope. to the ravine to ensure drainage of the road.

The sidewalk will be delimited by a handrail on the wall and slope that separates it from the ramblizo, and by a protective metal parapet on the border with the Avenida del Chorrico.

It is planned to complete the lighting of the area with the provision of a new column and luminaire on the new sidewalk section.

3. In addition, it is planned to adapt the path or perimeter path to the ASTRADE Center itself, which is currently deteriorated, and which also constitutes a pedestrian route, so that people who reside or are treated at the Center can take walks in an environment that conserves natural elements and vegetation, as well as serving as an access to the drinking water tank from which the Mancomunidad de Canales del Taibilla (MCT) supplies the urban nucleus of Molina de Segura.

For this adaptation is provided the clearing and grazing of the existing road, the application in a width of 3 meters of an artificial gravel base and the execution of a triple surface treatment with gravel, in addition to the protection of the side slopes with concrete mass .

At the end of 2012, the Molina de Segura City Council executed the works to improve access to the ASTRADE Center and Los Juncos Park, through the construction of a roundabout that guarantees the adequate safety, capacity and functionality conditions in the road connections of both complexes. with the Chorrico Avenue.

However, there is still no possibility of access for pedestrians to the ASTRADE Center under adequate conditions of safety and comfort, since the closest pedestrian route is the existing pedestrian path on the opposite side of Avenida del Chorrico, which connects the nucleus urban area of Molina de Segura with the urbanizations El Chorrico and Altorreal.

In the margin of the Avenida del Chorrico that adjoins the ASTRADE Center there is no practicable pedestrian itinerary.

This pedestrian access should materialize with the urbanization of the sector ZR1-M2, but, in anticipation that the urban development of the same is estimated in the long term, it is contemplated the realization of a pedestrian access to said Center from the existing pedestrian path in the margin contrary.

The absence of an adequate pedestrian access to the ASTRADE Center limits the possibility for people residing or being treated therein to access the urban center of Molina de Segura in adequate safety conditions, being the walking activities a necessary activity within the development and treatment of said people.
