Paco López Mengual presents Executing Otto Maier on Thursday September 27 in Molina de Segura

The event will take place at 8:00 pm, at the Salvador García Aguilar Library

The presentation of the book Execute Otto Maier, by the Molinense writer Paco López Mengual, will take place on Thursday, September 27, at 8:00 pm, at the Salvador García Aguilar Library (at Avenida del Chorrico, n ° 44).

Speakers, along with the author, Fulgencio Puche Oliva, former Mayor of Molina de Segura, exdiputado autonomic and former Communist League militant, and Juan Antonio García Rex, Professor of History of the IES Francisco de Goya and former militant of the Communist League.

Paco López Mengual (Molina de Segura, 1962) was born into a family of merchants.

After studying teaching at the University of Murcia, he joined the family business, a well-known haberdashery, which combines with his role as novelist and editor (La Fea Burguesía and Tirano Banderas), and which complements his literary tours of history and legends in Murcia and Molina de Segura, even by the cemetery of this town.

He is an active contributor to the newspaper La Opinión in Murcia, in the digital magazine Editanet, Cadena Ser, Radio Thader FM, etc.

In September 2013 he delivered the Proclamation of festivities of Molina de Segura.

Likewise, he is a member of the Very Noble and Very Loyal Order of Meteor.

So far, he has published three short story books, La mansion de los mutantes, La pistola de Hilarito and A literary walk through the streets of Murcia;

two travel books, Recuerdos de Lisboa and A few days in Paris;

and a book of children's stories, do I tell you a story?

After the novels The Memory of Mud, The Map of a Crime, The Last Ship to America and Cursed Chinese, El grafiti del Cid appeared, his first foray into the juvenile narrative.

In Executing Otto Maier (La Fea Burguesía Ediciones, 2018), the author moves us to 1974. Franco is about to die and his dictatorship is in the last throes.

Leandro, a young bookseller, has just left the Provincial Prison of Murcia after serving a small sentence for a political issue.

But soon, the revolutionary fervor that has seized him will push him to lead a subversive action that will change his life.

In the northwest of the province of Murcia, under the false identity of Otto Maier, a very important war criminal has been hiding for decades.

Trepidante history, where old Nazis intermingle, Francoist secret services and a group of young Trotskyists with longing for adventure and desire to change the world.

In it he makes a generational portrait of the youth of an era, while showing the dirtiest part of the Transition.
