The Department of Social Welfare of Molina de Segura organizes a training session and several exhibitions of dogs trained in the defense of victims of gender violence (23/05/2018)

The Department of Social Welfare of the City of Molina de Segura has scheduled several awareness activities on equality and prevention of gender violence in Primary Education centers of the municipality, with exhibition of dogs trained in the defense of victims of gender violence and the session formative We like equality, which will take place on May 24, 28 and 29 and June 18.

The objectives of this initiative are: to favor and promote mutual respect between girls and boys, recognizing that all people are unique;

promote interpersonal relationships based on equality and good treatment (live in class and at home with the values ​​of equality);

strengthen self-esteem, recognize one's emotions and develop empathy with other people;

and develop skills for coexistence, educating in tolerance and good treatment.

The activities are aimed at students and teachers of the following educational centers:

Los Olivos Educational Center (dogs exhibition).

Approximate number of participants: 200.

CEIP San Miguel (dogs exhibition and training session).

Approximate number of participants: 440.

CEIP Teacher Francisco Martínez Bernal (dogs exhibition).

Approximate number of participants: 200.

CEIP Cervantes (dogs exhibition and training session).

Approximate number of participants: 200.

The participation of a total of 1,040 students is estimated.

According to the Councilor for Social Welfare, Ángel Navarro García, "integrating coeducation, affective education and respect for equality in learning contributes to the development of key competences in the students of our municipality, as well as to the transformation of the educational community of the center, in the framework of a welcoming and safe school.From our Department we work to break the traditional and unequal transmission of roles and stereotypes and educate for coexistence in real equality between girls and boys.

The 4 exhibitions of trained dogs will cost 1,050 euros, and are borne by the ESCAN Association.

The training session will be given by the CAVI psychologist, who coordinates both activities.

"The programs we offer from the Department of Social Welfare provide an informative and training service for the prevention of gender violence, we also direct actions to primary schools in our biannual programming with these two activities that have chosen these four schools" , informs the councilor.

The exhibition of dogs trained in the defense of women is an active, novel and very participative scenario, where children find a space to analyze positive care and good treatment.

The formative session for the 4th year Primary students is a space where we can analyze the implications of gender (in colors, objects, gifts, housework, professions ...) for a new, more egalitarian, respectful approach and with emotional ability.

The people who teach each activity have a professional trajectory endorsed from a gender perspective and direct their intervention to facilitate interpersonal communication for girls and boys, facilitating personal, family and social maturation.
